Chiropractor and Applied Kinesiologist
My story…
My story is more about my profession finding me, rather than seeking it out. As a kid I wanted to be a marine biologist, and in high school I thought about maybe doing computer animation. I still keep art as a favorite hobby, but it isn’t where I stopped. I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in Japanese, but neither is what I wanted to do with my life. It was the end of undergrad where I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor. I’d always loved natural health, just hadn’t thought about a career in it until then. So I took the required prerequisite courses then moved from Ft. Worth, Texas to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic.
I love what chiropractic alone can do, but it was Applied Kinesiology (AK), a technique I learned about during Palmer, that really caught and held my attention. It gave me a much more vast set of tools to treat a much wider variety of issues that people end up with just going through life. Definitely physical pain, but I also have some techniques to help with emotional stress and anxiety, some gut problems, energetic unbalances, etc. After graduating Palmer in 2015, I became certified in AK and worked for a year and a half in the office of my mentor, Dr. Jim Hogg, learning more and more about the technique.
After that, I, along with my husband (Dr. Ben Buck), got the opportunity to work in China with the Chinese Olympic Committee. I was assigned to archery because of the precise and detail-oriented nature of the AK technique. I spent a year there treating the athletes, and getting to see most parts of the country as the team traveled to warmer regions during the winter. We made it back in the spring of 2019, and eventually settled down here in Colorado that summer, where we happily plan to stay.
