My story…

My story is more about my profession finding me, rather than seeking it out. As a kid I wanted to be a marine biologist, and in high school I thought about maybe doing computer animation. I still keep art as a favorite hobby, but it isn’t where I stopped. I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in Japanese, but neither is what I wanted to do with my life. It was the end of undergrad where I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor. I’d always loved natural health, just hadn’t thought about a career in it until then. So I took the required prerequisite courses then moved from Ft. Worth, Texas to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic.

I love what chiropractic alone can do, but it was Applied Kinesiology (AK), a technique I learned about during Palmer, that really caught and held my attention. It gave me a much more vast set of tools to treat a much wider variety of issues that people end up with just going through life. Definitely physical pain, but I also have some techniques to help with emotional stress and anxiety, some gut problems, energetic unbalances, etc. After graduating Palmer in 2015, I became certified in AK and worked for a year and a half in the office of my mentor, Dr. Jim Hogg, learning more and more about the technique.

After that, I, along with my husband (Dr. Ben Buck), got the opportunity to work in China with the Chinese Olympic Committee. I was assigned to archery because of the precise and detail-oriented nature of the AK technique. I spent a year there treating the athletes, and getting to see most parts of the country as the team traveled to warmer regions during the winter. We made it back in the spring of 2019, and eventually settled down here in Colorado that summer, where we happily plan to stay.

My story…

My brother and I grew up in southeastern Washington state in a city called Kennewick. From there I attended Washington State University (Go Cougs!) where I began the journey of finding what it is I wanted to do in this crazy world. I hopped around from physicist to engineer and medical doctor but nothing really clicked until I remembered an experience I had as a high school athlete. To make that long story short I had a knee injury that wasn’t healing and the orthopedic recommendation was exploratory surgery to find the problem and correct it, leaving me to choose which of my sports seasons I wanted to sit out of for rehabilitation. Needless to say this recommendation crushed me and we sought a second opinion with a physiatrist who specializes in young athletes and had a soft spot for high school football players. After one examination with him, he stated that it could be one of three things, all of which improve with strengthening exercises. 2 months later I was pain free and looking forward to enjoying all the sports.

This experience led me to wanting to go into healthcare but not into the standard medical or surgical routes. After some searching I landed on chiropractic and attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, meeting my wife, and graduating in spring 2015. After which I worked at Palmer as the Resident in the Sports Injury and Rehabilitation Department working toward my diplomate in chiropractic rehabilitation (DACRB). That is, until the opportunity to work with the Chinese Olympic Committee arose and my wife and I traveled to China in the spring of 2018.

Once in China I was selected to work with their Olympic Artistic Gymnastics teams in order to provide rehabilitative care for relief of pain and corrective exercise programs to improve performance and prevent injury. Outside of work I remained in Beijing as the gymnastics team rarely traveled, mostly sightseeing the city on my electric scooter. In the spring of 2019 my wife and I returned to the States and chose Colorado as our final destination, eventually bringing us to Longmont.

My story…

I grew up in a moderate-sized town in southeastern Washington called Kennewick. After high school, I went to Washington State University to study biology with an emphasis in physical therapy. From there I attended Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa specializing in sports injuries and rehabilitation.

Through my time at Palmer, I was a finalist for the Palmer College Sports Injury and Rehabilitation residency program to receive a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Rehabilitation (DACBR). Upon graduating with my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer in 2015, I spent my first year in practice in Seattle, Washington. While there, I worked with several USA athletes from numerous sports; such as rugby, swimming, and track. Following this year in the Pacific Northwest, I made the move to Chandler, Arizona and worked at another elite facility.

This facility specialized in treating daily to world class athletes through biomechanics and rehabilitative exercises. At this elite facility in Arizona, I was privileged to work more extensively with triathlon, track & field athletes. This led to assisting and working with personal medical groups at several USA Track & Field National Championship events over the past several years.

In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing with morning coffee, hiking, practicing martial arts, and adventuring outdoors.
